How do you find your happy?
Living in the present moment. Hmmm...maybe but, unless you're a yogi or a monk I'm becoming more and more convinced that living in the present moment every second of every day of our lives is pretty much impossible for the rest of us.
I read something the other day (and this is an attempt to paraphrase) that the key to a fulfilled and happy life boils down to making great memories to look back on and having great things to look forward to. So, in essence, take lots of pictures and make lots of plans.
It's hard not to chuckle when you first read it (too simple, right) but, when I look at the photos of my life or the photos that friends have taken, I see a world filled with color and dreams coming true (celebrations of every kind...children, vacations, homes being built, walks in the country or on the beach). Beautiful images that reflect back and tell a story. Inspiring stories.
As for making plans...I'm pretty darn good at that and always feel better when there is something around the corner to look forward to. Currently, there are about six or seven different things that are giving me that surge of happy feelings.
So today, why not pay tribute to the simplicity of the make plans and take pictures theory. Give yourself a gift and make a plan. It doesn't have to be big--just something that has you looking forward. The happy surge is likely to start flowing just by thinking about it and for today, let your happy be this easy.
On a musical note, I'll leave you with the acoustic version of Bob Schneider's "How Do You Live Your Life". I heard it yesterday and it reminded me how much I look forward to hearing a good guitar and piano combo.
